Teen Arrested for Fleeing Deputies Twice in Harris County

A 17-year-old suspect, Tommie Collins, was arrested on February 12, 2025, after twice fleeing from Harris County Precinct 8 Deputies. Collins, who had outstanding warrants, was caught after a two-day search that began at a business on El Dorado Blvd and ended at an apartment complex in Webster.

Initial Escape at El Dorado Blvd Business

On February 11, 2025, Harris County deputies received a tip about a young male possibly selling narcotics inside a business on the 400 block of El Dorado Blvd. Deputies Rabago and Cartlidge responded to the tip and approached the suspect. Collins provided a false name and date of birth before escaping on foot into a nearby apartment complex.

While searching the area, deputies found a bag that Collins left behind. It contained approximately 3 ounces of marijuana.

Suspect Identified as Tommie Collins

The suspect was later identified as 17-year-old Tommie Collins. Authorities discovered that Collins had two outstanding warrants: one for Evading Arrest and another for Assaulting a Family Member.

Although the Harris County District Attorney’s Office accepted an additional charge of Evading Arrest for this incident, they declined to press charges for Possession of Marijuana and Failure to Provide Identification as a Fugitive.

Final Arrest in Webster After Surveillance

On February 12, 2025, deputies from the Precinct 8 Criminal Investigations Division and Street Crimes Unit conducted surveillance in the 18800 block of Town Ridge Dr. in Webster. They spotted Collins, who once again attempted to flee.

Deputies quickly set up a perimeter around the area and found Collins hiding inside an apartment. This time, Collins surrendered without any further incident and was taken into custody.

Tommie Collins’ arrest highlights the importance of law enforcement vigilance and the risks involved in evading police. Despite initially escaping, Collins was eventually apprehended through coordinated efforts by the Harris County Precinct 8 deputies.

This incident also sheds light on the ongoing challenges related to drug activity and fugitive arrests in the community. Law enforcement remains committed to maintaining safety and addressing illegal activities to ensure the well-being of residents in Harris County.
