Texas Lutheran University (TLU) celebrated Senior Day in style with a dominant 79-61 win over Schreiner University on Saturday evening at Memorial Gymnasium. The Bulldogs improved to a stellar 17-3 overall record (11-1 SCAC), wrapping up their home slate with an impressive 8-2 record. The packed crowd witnessed an outstanding performance from the team as they honored their seniors with a commanding victory.
Mulkey Shines with Double-Double Performance
Senior Kailee Mulkey had a standout game, coming off the bench to register 11 points and 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. She also contributed defensively with three steals, tying with fellow senior Juliett Martinez for a team-high. With these steals, Mulkey became just the third player in TLU history to surpass 200 career steals, positioning herself just seven steals away from becoming the program’s all-time leader in the NCAA era.
Strong Team Effort Leads to Victory
While Mulkey led the charge, Callista Perez also made a strong impact, scoring 10 points off the bench. Other key contributors included:
- Sarahi Jones & Juliett Martinez – 9 points and 4 assists each
- Elexis Morado & Emerald St. Laurent – 8 points each, with Morado grabbing 7 rebounds
- Juliana Tapia – 4 points, 6 rebounds, and a career-high 5 assists
TLU forced 20 turnovers, converting them into 23 points, while committing only 11 turnovers themselves. The Bulldogs held a slight 42-38 scoring advantage in the paint and saw significant contributions from their bench, which outscored Schreiner’s bench 49-11.
Bulldogs Take Early Control and Dominate
The Bulldogs wasted no time asserting their dominance, with senior Chaeli Criddle setting the tone with a four-point play early in the first quarter. Despite lineup changes to honor their seniors, TLU managed to outscore Schreiner 16-10 in the opening period. Criddle and Jones led the team with four points each in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Mulkey stepped up, scoring seven points to help TLU extend its lead to 35-23 at halftime. The Bulldogs maintained their grip on the game, pushing their lead to as much as 24 points in the fourth quarter before sealing the win.
