The City of Pearland is introducing its first-ever UniverCity of Pearland program, offering residents a behind-the-scenes look at how the city operates. This free, eight-week course is open to residents aged 18 and above who are eager to learn about Pearland’s essential services like water, sewer, police, and more.
What is the UniverCity of Pearland?
The UniverCity program will give participants a detailed view of how Pearland runs its daily operations. From managing water and sewer systems to overseeing police services, this program covers it all.
- Duration: Eight weeks
- Start Date: March 27, 2025
- Schedule: Every Thursday, with a light dinner at 5:30 p.m. and presentations from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Application Deadline: March 13, 2025 (or until the class is full)
- Class Size: Limited to 20 participants
Where Will Sessions Take Place?
Each session will be held at different locations depending on the topic of the day, including:
- City Hall
- Fire Administration
- Law Enforcement Training Center
- Surface Water Treatment Plant
- Recreation Center
- EPW (Engineering and Public Works) Building
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a resident of Pearland
- Be registered to vote in Texas
- Commit to attending all eight sessions
- Meet other application requirements
Graduates of the program will be honored at the Pearland City Council meeting on May 19, 2025, at City Hall.
