TEXAS CITY, Texas — A tragic incident unfolded in Texas City on Wednesday morning as a married couple was found dead in their home. Authorities are investigating the case as an apparent murder-suicide.
The couple was discovered inside their residence on 3rd Avenue near 21st Street after a home care nurse, unable to get a response from them, contacted the police. When officers arrived at the scene, they found both individuals deceased.
According to Texas City police, the investigation is still in its early stages, and details surrounding the circumstances remain limited.
“Horrible, absolutely horrible,” said Andrea Roque, a neighbor. “They were very well-known, very good people. Just a real bad situation.”
Neighbors reported seeing the man as recently as Tuesday night, but no signs of distress were noted at that time.
The Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of death following autopsies.
