The Pearland High School Lady Oilers soccer team is showing incredible unity and support for their teammate, Alexia Sanchez, who was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Unfortunately, this diagnosis means Alexia won’t be able to play in her senior season. However, her teammates are determined to help her through this challenging time by organizing a fundraiser to support Alexia and her family.
Lady Oilers Launch Fundraiser for Alexia
To raise funds, the team is selling custom-designed T-shirts, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to Alexia’s medical expenses and other needs. The shirts feature the slogan:
“Oilers Kick Cancer Outta Here – Team Lexi”
Other Ways to Support Alexia
For those who may not want a T-shirt but still want to help, the team is also accepting monetary donations through Zeffy. The donations collected will be used to purchase DoorDash gift cards for Alexia and her family, providing them with meals and reducing some of their daily stress.
Coach and Community Stand in Solidarity
Head Girls’ Soccer Coach Elise Cox expressed her deep gratitude for the support, saying:
“Thank you for your support and for helping us show Alexia that she’s not alone in this fight!”
The Pearland High School community has come together to rally around Alexia, proving that teamwork goes beyond the soccer field. Their love, unity, and determination serve as a powerful reminder that no one fights alone.
The Lady Oilers’ initiative to support Alexia Sanchez reflects the strength of their team spirit and compassion. Whether through purchasing a fundraiser T-shirt or donating via Zeffy, every contribution makes a difference in Alexia’s fight against Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. This heartwarming show of support demonstrates that in times of hardship, the Pearland High School community stands together, stronger than ever.
