67-Year-Old Betsey Rolston Identified as Crash Victim
KILLEEN, Texas — A tragic accident in Killeen earlier this week claimed the life of 67-year-old Betsey Rolston. The fatal crash involved a stolen vehicle and led to a police pursuit, according to the Killeen Police Department.
Authorities confirmed that three juveniles were inside the stolen Jeep at the time of the collision. Two of them, a 15-year-old and a 14-year-old male, attempted to flee on foot but were caught after a brief chase. The third suspect, another 15-year-old, initially escaped but was later identified. Currently, the two apprehended suspects are being held at the Bell County Juvenile Detention Center, while the case against the third juvenile is under review by the Bell County Attorney’s Office.
How the Fatal Crash Unfolded
The crash occurred near the intersection of Veterans Memorial Boulevard and 10th Street when officers identified the stolen Jeep. As the vehicle traveled along Trimmier Road, it swerved into the northbound lane and struck a silver sedan. The force of the impact caused the sedan to crash into a black pickup truck.
Sadly, the driver of the sedan, Betsey Rolston, did not survive. Justice of the Peace Cliff Coleman pronounced her dead at the scene. Other passengers in both the sedan and the pickup truck sustained injuries but were transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in stable condition.
Police Recover Weapons, Investigation Continues
During their investigation, officers discovered two handguns inside the stolen Jeep. The case has now been referred to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office for further legal proceedings.
The Killeen Police Department continues to investigate the incident and is seeking assistance from the public. Anyone with photos or videos related to the crash is encouraged to submit them through a provided link.
Legal Proceedings and Next Steps
Authorities have yet to announce the formal charges against the juveniles, but they remain in custody as the legal process unfolds. The Bell County Juvenile Court will determine the appropriate charges for the two detained suspects, while the third suspect’s case remains under review.
This tragic event has shaken the Killeen community, raising concerns about juvenile crime and stolen vehicles. As the investigation progresses, authorities will work to ensure justice for the victim and her family while addressing the legal consequences for those involved.
